Carol Pauley – Simply Said Designs

Hi, my name is Carol Pauley I am a founding consultant forSimply Said Designs, I became a consultant in March of 2010. And Ijoined Direct Sales Biz in July after checking out many many sites.and I would just like to share my experience with others who may bestill serching for the right exposure. When I joined, my firstexperience was a warm welcome from Caylin herself, and then manyother members sent their warm wishes and welcomes. Then I startedjoining other groups such as online events, etc. as I needed to getexposure as Simply Said Designs is a groundfloor business. I was soimpressed by all the exposure that I have invited friends that Iknow that are also consultants to join DSB. and they have thankedme several times. Then I got brave and I started my own groupSimply Said Designs Maine, because after you got 15 members youcould start your own chat group, well I have gone beyond that, buthave not gotten real good with that yet. but I will continue tofigure that out. as you will once your group has its 15 members. Iam getting the exposure I needed , I have bought banner ads, andthe networking is working. So if you are thinking about networkingand need exposure. I highy reccomend joining DSB. Sue Harrington – Diamond Team Leader and Trainer

Let me tell you a little about myself. I was in the US Women’s ArmyCorp for three years where I saw various parts of the country andmet a lot of interesting people. I met my husband, Rick, whilestationed in Arizona. We have five children and ninegrandchildren.

I earned my Bachelors Degree in Business Administration whileworking for the State of California and helping Rick start, build, and operate our home based auto restoration parts business(www.ecparts.net).

I am an avid collector of teddy bears and have a gazillion invarious sizes. I added butterflies of all colors and sizes, as wellas lighthouses to my collection. I now have a career that may allowme to build another room on the house — just for my toys! Buildingmy business allows me the means to control my income and work whenand how I want. Not everyone can say their JOB provides them thatkind of opportunity!

Our parent company has an extensive line of gourmet candlesincluding jars, votives, and melts, as well as gourmet bath andbody products. A new addition to the our “bakery” is thescrumptious Blueberry Pie. This joins the other bakery items suchas Apple Pie, Cherry Pie, Chocolate Dream Pie, Key Lime Pie,Pumpkin Pie, and Strawberry Creme Pie. We also have Cinnamon BellaBuns … all look and smell so real you will want to eat them.

After years of not burning candles in our home because of the nastyblack soot, we found that these triple poured, clean burning, andvirtually soot free candles are tremendous, and now have candlesburning almost daily!

The best thing about having a home based business is flexibility! Iset my own hours, work as little or as much as I want and can do itall from the comfort of my home, even wearing my PJs if I choose. Ienjoy being available for my family more often–I’m not tied to aschedule like so many other people I know.

Having your own business gives you the FREEDOM to take time youneed for other things … being with your family, being able toattend school functions, doctor appointments, etc. You have to bededicated to the business in order to enjoy the things you get fromworking for yourself. Again, that is what the FREEDOM of thisbusiness does … it allows you to work it when and how youwant!

Although I have always been the candle lover, family members werenever really “candle people”. They always complained about thenasty black marks on the walls and said the “other guy’s” candlessmelled like fire … not fragrant at all. I think they werereluctant to burn our gourmet candles at first because of this, butafter they experienced the aroma and virtually soot free candles,we have changed their minds.

We already had a successful home based business and I love candles,so I thought why not? After I spent 20 years in a governmentcareer, this seemed like a perfect transition into a career I couldtotally control myself and work from the comfort ofhome–surrounded by my bears, butterflies, and family.

This company offers tremendous training and support twenty-fourhours a day – seven days a week through emails, daily digests, forums, online training, and conference calls. Wouldn’t you like topurchase your gourmet candles at wholesale prices!

Carol Collard – Independent Scentsy Consultant

As things have been happening in my life the past week or so I havebeen thinking about how important networking with other businessowners in Direct Sales, as well as those who teach and offercoaching to build successful Direct Sales businesses, has become inmy own life.

I never really looked at ‘friending’ others associated with thesame company that I am as being ‘beneficial’. I viewed it as manyothers do…”I can’t be friends with that person…I’m incompetition with them!” But that is not actually true. Yes we areall out to build our customer bases, schedule those parties, etc.;but I have learned that it is extremely important to developrelationships with fellow consultants. It is as important asdeveloping relationships with potential customers and recruits.

I have been learning that I can learn so very much from these otherconsultants. The insights and the ideas that I’ve gleaned fromother consultants has renewed my outlook and focus on my ownbusiness. In turn that changes my attitudes. With changed attitudescomes the potential for growth both in business and in personallife.

I have been learning so much and it’s difficult at times to pulleverything out of my brain and put it into black and white. I tryto do small pieces at a time so that it sticks with me.

I do have to thank Direct Sales Biz and Caylin for helping me inall of this. DSB has brought many people across my path whom I havebeen receiving more than just ideas and insights; but a great dealof encouragement and several developing friendships. That meansmore to me than anything. For me, my business isn’t about the salesor recruiting. It’s about people. Helping people, sharing withpeople….building strong relationships that will last. I fell intothe ‘trap’ of numbers and had to take a step back and really lookat what I was doing. It didn’t feel right to me and I realized thatI was not being the ‘authentic’ me…I was trying to be like otherswho seemed to be growing exponentially. (Keyword: seemed) Once Italked with some of these ladies whom I have networked with andbegun building relationships with, I was able to refocus and now Iknow I’m back on the right track for me.

If I hadn’t started ‘following’ Caylin I would not have learnedabout DSB and I might not have many of the relationships I havenow. I have no doubt that everything will only grow from here.Networking is SO important!

Kristen Stambaugh – Lia Sophia Consultant

I am a lia sophia Advisor, and have technically been since July2009. I ordered some pieces from a friend for my sister-in-law’s40th birthday. I took advantage of the Customer Savings Plan andpurchased a few pieces for myself. I love them! Ironically, acouple of months later I was invited to two lia sophia parties andordered, of course, more pieces. I liked them so much I decided Icould also be an Advisor. How hard could it be selling jewelry? So,I signed up and started selling. Little did I know how much work itwould take. I joined lia sophia when my daughter was still needingmore attention than I could give while starting up my lia sophiabusiness. After a couple of months I went inactive. This summer Idecided I was at a point where I could start up my business again.I held my starter show, earned my website back and off I went, toconquer the world selling lia sophia. After our relocation to theeast coast, I have started sharing lia sophia with people. Everyoneloves the pieces, and I am hoping to do well.

I found DSB while searching for networking sites. I have to admit,I was a little skeptical because I have joined other networkingsites and haven’t been able to get anything out of them. Not evenas much as a hello. I decided to sign up with DSB thinking, “Itcan’t hurt”. I was shocked! I had responses from other memberswithin minutes. I was welcomed by the members as well as the sitecreator, Caylin. I have asked questions and received great adviceand will continue to do so. There is so much information availableto you as a member of DBS you can’t be unsuccessful unless youdon’t put forth any effort. All of us are here to help each other.Even if you are in the same business, everyone is willing to helpand give advice. It’s a wonderful site and I hope we continue togrow the membership to gain more knowledge.

Lexi Butler – Beaded Jewels

My Name is Lexi Butler 44 young, proud mom of three children 22, 15and 12 and married to a awesome man for 16 wonderful years. I amalso a certified Goldsmith, Jewelry Designer/Beading Artist as wellas the webmaster of http://www.beadedjewels.biz

Background

I grew up in my father’s jewelry business in Germany. From the timeI was four years old I was sitting at my father’s side watching himdesign and make jewelry. Just a year later I had my own little workplace next to my dad and I was proud owner of a coping saw and somefiles. After I completed 10th grade in Germany Highschool I began adual apprentice ship as a goldsmith and jewelry designer. When Iwas not learning in my fathers and other companies I went toprofession school in Pforzheim to learn all the practical andtheoretical aspects of becoming a goldsmith and designer.

I was worked at my father’s side for ten years, and designed quitea few jewelry lines. My father’s jewelry was unique in design andone of a kind, he only worked with 18ct rose-gold and platinum withdiamonds and superfine gemstones. His jewelry was very expensive! Iknew then that if I wanted to continue in this business I wouldhave to find my niche.

In 1994 I left the work force to be a dedicated mom. We immigratedto the USA in 1996 I brought all my tools with me, not knowing if Iwould ever use them again.

Beaded Jewels

A Valentine’s Day Gift Card from my husband actually is what got anew hobby started in 2004. I went to a craft store nearby and afterprayer of where to be directed to, I found myself in the beadingsection. I picked up some books and some supplies and went home. The same year I started to sell my creations on craft shows whichbecame the catalyst for Beaded Jewels. My designs became uniquelike the jewelry I use to design for my father. People werestarting to notice the difference in my designs compared to otherbeaded jewelry. Lots of people also noticed the high quality of myjewelry and accessories.

0n Jan 23rd 2008 Beaded Jewels was born and the website http://www.beadedjewels.biz/which I designed as well was launched.

Beaded Jewels and Its Division Beaded Jewels Bracelets of Hope in2009 When I heard the devastating news from my mother over thephone that my father was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectol cancer,I took an emergency flight to Germany to see my father one moretime or so I thought. Nothing could prepare me of what I was aboutto see, once I reached my family’s home. The handsome man instature had shriveled into this pale, bald, skinny, almost notrecognizable human being a picture that would stay with me foryears to come. Today, my father is an almost 7 year survivor and wethank God for each day he gets to live. For many years, I havewanted to help and make a difference, but did not quite know how togo about it. As many people today, I was uninformed about the manytypes of cancer alone that affect thousands of people every day. SoI wanted to make a difference and help inform people and spreadcancer awareness nationwide through a unique way, by designing andhandcrafting a unique and eye-catching bracelet line “Beaded JewelsBracelets of Hope”. Each Beaded Jewels Bracelet of Hope is madewith love and prayed over and knowing myself how devastating canceris, I want to “Bring A Little Sparkle into Someone’s Life” which isthe Motto behind these bracelets.

Being part of DSB–Direct Sales Biz Network has helped me to raiseawareness to the Beaded Jewels Division Beaded Jewels Bracelets ofHope. It has helped me to grow my customer base, to make many newfriends. I was originally invited from Caylin at the Market Placeat http://expo-connector.com/chat.htm which is part of the ExpoChat Connector and Small Business Referral and two directory siteswhich are part of A Social Marketing Network, where I am also theleader of the Self made Home Biz Owner Group.

The DBS is a Gate to many marketing opportunities with endlesspossibilities to grow into a successful bilingual biz women likemyself.

Jennifer Guy – Independent Scentsy Consultant

I have always loved candles. Some would say I am obsessed withcandles. I love anything scented and it just so happens thatcandles are at the top of my list. Well…Not anymore!!! I havefound something so much better that has turned my life completelyaround.

My mother got me turned onto Scentsy. A simple ceramic warmer thatis COMPLETELY safe, wax that is of food-grade quality (also safe),no extreme heat, no flame, no wick, no nasty soot that not onlygets on your walls but gets in your lungs and clothes as well. Itis just an all around safe “candle”. No worries what-so-ever! Iloved it because not only did I have a brand new apartment that Iwas looking forward to decorating, I was also expecting a littlegirl. September 2008 rolls around and my daughter Kaylee is born.October 2008- I received my first Scentsy warmer as a present. Iwas telling everyone about this product, I loved it!!! I just couldnot get over the fact that there was a product out there that wasso economical but yet it was long lasting, and SAFE!!!! Thentragedy struck….

January 2009 at about 5 o’clock in the morning, I woke up out of adead sleep. I checked on the baby who was 4 months old at the time, and ran to grab something to drink. I smelled smoke. I turn thelights on throughout the apartment trying to find where the smokewas coming from.. It was coming from under the front door. Theapartment building was on fire. Next thing I knew I heard peopleyelling and screaming for everyone to get out. People banging on mydoor yelling for me to get out as fast as possible because theapartment below mine was on fire. By the time I got back to thebedroom my boyfriend had woken up and was wrapping the baby up inevery blanket possible to keep her warm but the smoke was startingto get thick so we had to get out. With no shoes or jacket I ranout the door with the baby to the fire escape and ran for safety. My boyfriend was trying to find our cat but unable to find him, hecame running out coughing. Standing in a foot of snow with noshoes, no jacket and in 25 degree weather with a 4 month old baby,we watched our apartment and everything we had in it burn. Andunfortunately we found out it was all from a regular candle.

Luckily everyone got out safely and no one was harmed but afterthat day I vowed to myself never to use a regular candle everagain. I didn’t want any other family to go through what I had toas long as it could be prevented. Which is why in July 2009 afterwe got settled in our new home and got caught up with life, Isigned up to be an Independent Consultant for Scentsy WicklessCandles. My goal is for every home to go safe. You can have yourhome smell good without a flame. It is safe around children andpets. There is no flame, and the scents are absolutelydelicious!!!!

Scentsy has not only allowed me to feel safe again, but it allowsme to change the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. Everywarmer I sell makes me feel so good to know that it is 1 less housefire in the statistics book. Scentsy has given me the confidence tostand up for something that I truly believe in. They say that youcannot sell anything that you dont believe in 100%. Well Idefinitely chose the right company and product to represent becauseI will never use a regular candle ever again.

As a matter of fact, Scentsy has not only let me change the livesof people, it has helped me create unbelievable relationships withfellow consultants and I have met so many people in direct salesthrough networking, shows, and emails I couldnt ask for anythingmore! I began searching for places to get ideas of furtherpromoting Scentsy and what it has to offer and I came acrossDirectSalesBiz.net and thought “why not?”. Man am I glad I joined.I have never found a sight that is more willing to help others, teach people how to run their businesses the right way, and justdownright enjoy what it is you are doing while meeting great menand women who enjoy doing the same thing you do. I have met suchwonderful friends and have expanded my business potential ten-foldjust by joining DSB.

Not only do I encourage people to give Scentsy a shot, I woulddefinitely tell you to give DirectSalesBiz a shot too. You wont besorry.

And remember — Kick the Wick!!!! For yours and your family’ssake!

Kacie Keenan – Independent Stylist for Stella & Dot

I wasn’t expecting to be working in direct sales at thispoint in my life. I am recently a new stay at home mom, who quit ajob in advertising to be able to spend more time with my son. I hada previous journey working in direct sales (while maintaining afull time job) as a hobbyist and making money wasn’t my primarygoal. I wanted to share my excitement for the particular businesswith others. It was purely to help support my hobby. If I made somemoney at it while sharing, that was a welcomed bonus. Today, here Iam, as an Independent Stylist for Stella & Dot, years after myfirst direct sales adventure and I’m really looking to make adifference in my life and the lives of my family. I want to be ableto contribute to our bills and vacation fund and not to mention, help relieve my husband from the stress of being the “solebreadwinner”. We all know the economy isn’t what it used tobe.

Before deciding Stella & Dot was for me, I had never evenheard of the company! A friend of mine was invited to a Trunk Show, who then invited me to go with her, but I was out of town. I askedher to grab me a catalog and send me the website so I could checkit out. After a few hours of browsing the website, I absolutelyLOVED everything and truly believed everyone needs a little stylein their life. And after those few hours and discussing brieflywith my husband (who fully supported me in this opportunity) Ijumped right in! Today I’m as passionate about Stella & Dot asI was just a few short months ago. Their vision and mission justresonated in my mind and I couldn’t wait to share it with others.I’m looking forward to building my own team because I love to helpothers. I have a desire to train people and I know I’d be good atit! I want to watch others be successful and know my efforts havehelped them get there. Stella & Dot isn’t just about thejewelry. It’s about being a strong and independent woman, who knowswhat she wants out of life…and looking great while she’s at it! Ihave an amazing sponsor who has become a great friend and the twoof us can talk jewelry forever! My goal is to become a Star Stylistby our next convention in July 2011, appropriately titled Hoopla!I’m hoping to earn a steady monthly income to help pay off ourcredit card bills more quickly and to allow my son to be involvedin as many activities as he wants. Oh and having gorgeous jewelryto wear all of the time isn’t such a bad thing either!

I never thought I would want to look beyond what my companyoffers to have success in my business. DSB has been a placefor me to go for a number of things. One of those is to get helpfultips and ideas to help make my business grow! I especially love theemphasis on how social media can help build my business because Ifeel strongly in its presence in today’s modern business. I alsolove the networking opportunities I’ve had and the Thursday’sSocial Hour in the chat room have been fun and informative as well!I’ve networked with people of all business backgrounds andultimately we’re all here to be successful! I’m so happy to havefound this gem of a website! Can’t wait for my team to join aswell! Thanks, Caylin for all of your input andmotivation!

Dortha Hise – Avon Independent Sales Representative

I grew up an only child in Southern California and was thefirst in my family to attend and graduate college. I put myselfthrough college and graduated from Loyola University Chicago with aBachelor’s in Criminal Psychology in 1998 and a Bachelor’s inCriminal Justice from the University of Las Vegas, Nevada in 2002.I began my career as a paralegal in the legal field and worked at avariety of law firms in varying specialties. Upon working agrueling position at a firm in Las Vegas, I realized that I neededsomething more fulfilling than what my current profession had tooffer. I had applied for and was into the background check andinterview phases with the FBI and was pursuing becoming a profilerwhen I decided that I really wanted to work for myself–doingsomething rewarding and be able to show others how to do the same.My cousin introduced me to Avon in 2002. After two years with Avon,I wanted to share her knowledge and passion with others. I advancedin leadership and became a certified beauty advisor in October2004. In May 2006, I realized the unlimited earning opportunity andwas able to leave my full-time job in the legal profession topursue Avon whole heartedly. My husband and business partner, Jasonand I, mentor our team of over two hundred people, to help themrealize their potential to do the same in their Avon businesses. Iam currently an Executive Unit Leader and I recently achieved anaward in my division of Avon for #2 sales volume increase in myteam over last year of just under $84K. My next goal is to hit the$1M in team sales this year and move to the top level of Avon’sleadership structure, Senior Executive Unit Leader. I am trulypassionate about helping others and want to see otherssucceed.

I’m proud to say that my Avon business afforded me is theability to pay off debt on my terms–when I moved from Nevada toCalifornia, I had accumulated some credit card and school loandebt–which my husband and I formulated an aggressive pay-off plan.Within two years, I had paid off the $55,000 in debt!

I’m very involved in my community in a variety of ways fromsummer markets in my town to fund raising for breast cancer–I justraised slightly over $1,900 for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer andjust participated in the walk in San Francisco the weekend of July10 and 11th. The walk was honestly the hardest and best thing I’veever done. It was the most emotional, most touching, most upliftingand inspirational weekend of my life. I met so many wonderful andamazing people. Heard so many heart breaking stories. The entireweekend, my heart was very heavy…my friend Laney’s memory weighedheavy on my heart (I walked in her honor as she passed away inJanuary of this year). It was physically grueling. When I thought Icouldn’t take another step, I was able to push for more miles. Theymileage was miscalculated on Saturday (it was to be 26.2 miles) andwe actually walked 30 miles. I did the entire thing which was mybiggest goal for my friend. :) And I did it, I’m proud to say. tookme 12 hours but I did it. Then on Sunday walked again, andultimately did 38 miles. Not too shabby. I am really proud ofmyself–biggest accomplishment and most humblingexperience.

My husband and I are chairpersons for the screening clinicfor the Shriners Hospital in Sacramento–we set up a clinic once ayear for children to be seen by doctors for treatment through theShriners Hospital. In 2009, we helped 41 families get into thehospital for treatment. We are looking forward to anothersuccessful clinic this October.

The Direct Sales Business group and all of the members andespecially the founder, Caylin Lampasona, have all been wonderfullysupportive and so free to share business ideas and supportingothers when it comes to testing a new idea. I love the fact thatyou can post a question and have literally 10 answers within anhour! :) DSB is a powerful group of savvy business owners and I amso grateful to be a part of it! There are so many great thingsabout this group that I don’t have enough room to list them allhere–if you’re considering becoming a member–don’t wait—jointoday! You’ll be so glad you did!

Anita Smithson – Tupperware Consultant

Truely being apart of the DSB, has given me the opportunityto reach out and touch so many others people in the world. I wouldof never been ablet o if I wasn’t apart of DSB. My main purpose ofbeing apart of DSB, is to M.E.I. others (motivate, encourage andinspire) in their dreams and goals in their businesses and life ingeneral. I had someone ask me the other day , how did I get intowanting to help others this way? I had simply said- when you helpothers without having a hidden reason- God blesses you and it comesback to you, fullfold. So being apart of DSB, my mission is totouch as many people and let them know, that they have one moreperson supporting them unslefishly- and sometimes Caylin, theydon’t have anyone supporting them- so they really appreciateit.

I would love to network and connect with everyone on thissite, yes growing my business is a wonderful bonus on DSB- but Ithink when you truely JUST want to conncet and serve others, youbegin to build trust and friendship, in return they will WANT tohelp you when they can or refer you others when that timesarises.

Marlene Kaiser – The Ultimate Grandma Blogger

I joined DSB to help my business. We were Watkinsdistributors in 1979-1982 working part time. I was transferred toFlorida by the VA hospital and we became involved in otherinterests and no longer pursued Watkins Products. We still used theproducts when we could find them. We have tried in the past to finda representative here in Orem, Utah, but weren’t successful, so wejoined the Summit Group that partners with Watkins. We have notonly enjoyed working with them, even though we have not had greatsuccess yet, but we have really benefited from using their productsand being able to purchase them at a discount. Watkins discount formembers is greater than Costco offers its members so we are happycampers.

Another thing that happened on DBS is that I also became adistributor for a company called SEND OUT CARDS through HeatherPrice. I saw a need for this service in my life. I have takenadvantage of this service in promoting the Watkins Business andhelping me to build relationships with my customers.

I have three websites:

www.watkinsonline.com/kaiser.This is the website for purchasing Watkins products.

www.watkinsonline.com/GK4972.comis where you can go to find out about the businessopportunity.

www.SendOutCards.com/103324is my web site for send out cards. Anyone going to this site maysend out two cards by mail for free. No charge for the cards or themailing of them.
